Malcolm "Mac" McLeod
June 24th, 1926 - February 22nd, 2016
Malcolm "Mac" McLeod Malcolm "Mac" McLeod was born June 24th, 1926 in Cle Elum, WA to Dora McLeod and Steve Labusky. Mac was raised by his grandparents on a ranch in Canada. He moved to Chico with his mother Dora and step-father, Andy Anderson in 1934 where he attended Linden Street School. He met his wife, Darlene at Enloe Hospital when she was his nurse after a minor surgery. They married in 1960. Together they raised 3 children. Family has always been his biggest joy. He was a truck driver by trade and drove many different trucks. Hauling logs was his favorite. He enjoyed telling stories of the many roads he traveled. Mac and friend Darryl Baxter started the first archery club and course in Bidwell Park. He never met a stranger, always had a joke to tell, and was always eager to lend a helping hand. Later in life, as his friends would pass, he would regularly check on their wives to make sure they were okay "because it was the right thing to do and it was something he hoped for his wife." He enjoyed camping, working in his shops, building, welding, wood working and repairing things for family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; son, Scott McLeod and his wife Jill and granddaughters Kacie (Brendan) Finn and Cortney McLeod; daughter Debi Brown, grandsons James Stevens and Michael Brown. He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Smith. A graveside service will be held at 1pm, Friday, Feb. 26 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park with a reception to follow at the Adobe Church in Durham.
