Clifford Douglas Crout, age 88, of Marysville, CA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 18, 2015. Doug was born on October 30, 1926, in Rule, Texas.Doug was born in Rule, Texas, to Henry Lee Crout and Ora Mae (Doss) Crout.Doug was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Saint Paul. He worked as a policeman and a truck driver. Doug was a loving husband, daddy, grandpa and grampy. He was a man of strong faith who loved his Lord and his family dearly. He spent hours in his wood shop making beautiful wooden whirligigs his wife painted. You could find them on Saturdays at the Yuba City Farmers Market during the summer months. He was active at the First United Methodist Church of Marysville. He loved playing pool, pinochle and other card games with his friends and family. His whistle was his trademark and always made his family smile.Doug is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eileen Steller Crout; daughters: Correen and husband, Byron La Counte, Anaheim, CA; Terry and husband, Glen Raley, Marysville, CA; and Lynn Hill, Vida, OR; grandchildren: Kevin and Dorothy La Counte, Scott and Diana La Counte; Austin and Danell Hill; Aric and Lauren Hill; Bethany and Todd Knight; Douglas Raley; and Timothy Raley; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Sarah, & Joshua La Counte; Preston, Noah, and Alice Hill; Avery, Logan, and Lucas Hill; and Levi and Grace Knight.Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Henry Lee and grandchildren Becky La Counte and Mordecai La Counte. A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Marysville, CA, on Saturday, October 24, 2015, 11:00 am. A reception will follow. Private interment will be at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church, 730 D Street, Marysville, CA 95901 -
