Willie Lee Pittman, Jr. Willie Lee Pittman, Jr., age 49, of Marysville, California, died on February 10, 2014. He was born June 4, 1964, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of late Rev. Willie Pittman, Sr. and the late Florence Pittman. He was the fourth child of five children born to this union. He graduated from Memphis Tech High School in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army as an officer for 3 years (1982-1985). He was honorably discharged in 1985. After his discharge, he returned home to Memphis and later moved to Oakland, California and then to Marysville, California. He met Laurie Ann Campbell of Marysville, California. They were married on May 25, 2002. He is survived by one son, Jabari Wilson Pittman, age 11; one brother Jonathan Buchanon and sister-in-law Marsha Buchanon of Oakland, California; four sisters, Sandra Slaughter, Kay Pittman, AuOllie Johnson, and Ruth Pittman; brothers- in-laws: Alfred Slaughter, Antonio Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of Memphis, Tennessee. He was employed by Wal-Mart, Linda, California, where he worked for 10 years. Will was an active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. He served as the String Bass Player for four choirs, as well as, praise and worship with the Bethel Male Chorus. He was active in the community as he played and recorded with Ricky D and the Flairs Band and starred in the role of 'Viper" in "Ain't Misbehavin" with the Ponderosa Theater Company of Browns Valley, California. A service celebrating the life of Will Pittman will be held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 115 5th Street, Marysville, CA, on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 12 noon. Pastor Godfrey Patterson, officiating. All are welcome who wish to celebrate the life of Will Pittman. Burial took place in Memphis, Tennessee on Thursday, February 20, 2014.
