Ullrey Memorial Chapel
John Calvin Cole
May 6th, 1922 - October 8th, 2014
John Calvin Cole, age 92, passed away October 8, 2014. He was born on May 6, 1922 to Clarence (Baldy) and Martha (Nellie) Cole in Yakima, WA. He served in the US Army for one year and then served in the Air Force for three more years until the end of World War II. During the war he was a navigator on a bomber and also an instructor. John married Mildred Feuling, March 18, 1949 and they moved to Ephrata, WA shortly thereafter. He worked in the U.S. Civil Service at Larsen AFB as a jet engine propulsion engineer. His work took the family first to England, then to Germany and finally to Beale AFB, where he retired in 1976. John was very active in Triple M Raceway and many remember him for his brief stint as a Winston West race car owner of one of the only Mopar cars on the circuit. He also belonged to the Marysville High School Booster Club and was elected to the Marysville School Board. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Millie; his daughter, Debbi (Mike) Selby of AZ; son, John Jr. (Chan) Cole of WA, Rick Cole of Live Oak; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his sister, Mary (100 years old) of WA; and brother, Calvin of WA. He was preceded in death by his son, David; two brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 1:00 pm with David Kugelman officiating. Military Honors, Beale AFB Honor Guard. Internment was private at Sutter Cemetery
