Alfred Francis Langlois January 12, 1922 - August 12, 2017 Alfred Langlois passed away peacefully on August 12, 2017 in Paradise, California Born in Oakland California to Joseph and Ida Langlois on January 12, 1922, Alfred graduated from Oakland Technical High School and went on to graduate from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. Prior to beginning his optometry practice, Alfred joined the U.S Army Air Corp in 1943. During pilot training Al was stationed in Chico and later at Sequoia Air Field outside Visalia. Alfred also attended Drake University during Officer Training. As a C-47 pilot, Al was stationed near Livorno, Italy where he flew missions to drop supplies to partisan forces and transport wounded soldiers. After V-E Day he continued to fly C-47 supply and troop transport missions throughout the Pacific until the end of the war. After WWII, Alfred moved to Chico and began his optometry practice and retired over 60 years later. Al was very active in the community as a long-time member of the Elks Club, Chamber of Commerce, Exchange Club and Butte Creek Country Club. Al's passions for travel and golf took him to the links in Scotland, England, Spain, France, Canada and of course, Hawaii. Alfred is survived by Janice, his beloved wife of 27 years and five children, Paul Langlois of Chico, Margaret (David) Ingols of Roseville, CA , Elizabeth Cheechov of West Sacramento, CA, Mary (Larry) Quiring of Chico, Barbara Langlois of Tracy, CA, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Alfred also leaves behind four devoted step-children, Gayle Doehrman, Karyn Mullins, Mark Connors and Craig Connors. Services will be held at Brusie Funeral Home in Chico on Tuesday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow immediately at Chico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Paradise Hospice.
