Angel Calderon-Paniagua Angel Calderon Paniagua, "El Flaco", to intimate friends and co-workers. He passed away peacefully on November 22, 2017 at the age of 93. He lived in Chico for the last three years and before lived in Hamilton City for 63 years. He died of natural causes in Chico, California, surrounded by his family. Angel Calderon Paniagua was born in El Timbinal Guanajuato Mexico on November 16, 1924 to Valente Calderon and Teodora Paniagua. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Antonia Ortiz, and his second wife of 49 years, Florentina Diaz Calderon, who passed away February 19, 1999; two brothers: Lorenzo and Ezequiel; and three sisters; Agricola, Senaida and Lucina. He is survived by his sister, Juana (96) of El Timbina, Guanajuato; children, Augustin and Jeronimo Calderon, of Mexico City, Angel and his wife Martha, Of Gridley, California, Evita and her husband Juan, of Chico, California, Alejandro Calderon and his wife Laura, of Orland, California. Five grandchildren: Natalia Calderon, Erica Calderon, Alexandro Calderon, Maritza Moreno, and Ariana Moreno and husband Jaime Ortiz; five step-grandchildren: Carlos, Rosario, Christian, Ramiro, and Lucy; three great-grandchildren; Anthony, Sofia and Andres. Angel was and agricultural worker. Worked, and loved working for James Mills Orchards in Hamilton City for 46 years. He was highly respected as an honest and hardworking man. Angel loved music and dancing. He played trombone in Banda De Viento as a young man. He was a source of unconditional love and support to all his children and grandchildren. Angel encouraged his family to value hard work, honesty, and respect. He often said, "An honest individual will always be respected." A mass of Christian burial will be held for Angel at 11am Saturday, December 2 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, followed by burial at Chico Cemetery. Vigil services will be held from 5-8 Fri. Dec. 1 with a rosary at 7 at Brusie Funeral Home. View obituary and send condolences online at brusiefh.com.
