Lois was born in Aurora, Nebraska, on October 31, 1930, and passed away peacefully with family at 93 years of age on December 13, 2023. She was one of twelve children born to JQ and Sadie Lewis. She was preceded in death by four infant siblings, brothers, Keith, Ralph, and James Harvey Lewis; and sisters, Thelma Salmon and Mary Alice Vetter. Lois is survived by sisters, Hannah Miller and Dorothy Campbell; daughters, Diana and Cindy Carlson, Lois Dibley-Cameron (Lolmaugh); grandchildren, Patrick and Daniel Rowan, Troy (Hannah) Dibley, Gwynna and Mia Cameron; and great-granddaughter, Millie Dibley. Lois grew up in the tiny town of Aurora during the Great Depression. She faced many obstacles and emerged a strong, independent, resilient woman. Lois graduated as valedictorian of her class at Aurora High School in 1948. She moved to Yuba City, California, in 1956 and worked as a legal secretary with several local attorneys. She finished her professional career with the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools. Even after retiring, Lois liked to keep busy and continued to prepare legal documents for lawyers in the Yuba-Sutter area. She had a passion for performing arts, particularly singing and acting. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines and also performed at many local events with the barbershop quartet Senior Moments. She was in several productions with the Acting Company. Lois loved spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in their various endeavors. She was a generous person and shared her time and resources to help friends, family, and various ministries. She had a foundation in Jesus and in turn was a cornerstone for her family. Animals were second family to her. During her lifetime she had numerous critter friends including dogs, cats, turtles, birds, horses, and cows. She also had a teacup pig in her life, but that proved to be a love/hate relationship. Lois enjoyed staying physically active and was often seen well into her sixties briskly walking her three American Eskimo dogs around town. She loved yard work, reading, and keeping up to date on what was happening in the world. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who helped care for Lois in her later years, including the entire team from Adventist Home Health and Hospice, especially Sheri and Rayna. Please join us in celebrating her long and blessed life on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 12-4 p.m. at the Loma Rica Community Church, 11234 Loma Rica Road, Loma Rica. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Dementia Society of America.
