Jose Luis Gonzales
April 28th, 1949 - January 22nd, 2024
Jose Luis Gonzales, aged 74, passed away on January 22, 2024. On January 20, 2024, while taking his morning walk with his beloved dogs, Jose tragically fell and was rendered unconscious. He received immediate care at Rideout Hospital in Marysville, California, before being airlifted to UC Davis in Sacramento. Despite the exhaustive medical efforts, Jose's life could not be prolonged. His sudden passing has left his family in profound sorrow. A lifelong resident of Gridley, Yuba City, and Marysville, Jose was born on April 28, 1949. He was a proud United States Marine veteran who served in Vietnam, a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country. Jose was part of an extensive family, one of 13 siblings. He is survived by his six sisters: Irma Mertens of Yuba City, California; Maria Gonzalez (Manuel) of San Jose, California; Lucila Norton (Ron) of Yuba City, California; Mariah Porras (Ed) of North Highlands, California; Evangelina Ross (Juan) of Cottonwood, Arizona; and his six brothers: Juan Manuel Martinez (Julia) of Live Oak, California; Juan Manuel Diaz (Carmen) of Gridley, California; Francisco Javier Diaz of Marysville, California; Ricardo Diaz of Oroville, California; Rodolfo Gustavo Diaz of Orland, California; and Angel Mauricio Diaz of Forbestown, California. He is predeceased by his sister, Gloria Moreno. Jose is also mourned by his devoted partner of 27 years, Brenda Suoja; and his three sons who are a testament to his legacy: Luis Enrique (Louie) Gonzales, Sergio Gonzales (Angelica), and Esteban Gonzales (Wendy); his ten grandchildren: Laurice, Alyssia, Elianna, Elijah, and Jahlia (Luis) Christian and Aryana (Sergio) Lilianna, Ezekiel, and Evelyn Gonzales (Esteban); and his great-grandson, Lorenzo (Lilianna) whom he adored, will miss him dearly. Jose's passing also leaves a void in the lives of his numerous nephews, nieces, and former wife, Estela Gonzales, all of whom will deeply and dearly miss him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved him. Funeral services will be held February 15, 2024, for an evening viewing between the hours of 5 - 7 PM at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street in Yuba City, CA, and February 16, 2024, for the chapel service between 11 AM - 12 PM at the same location. Graveside service will follow soon thereafter at Sutter Cemetery, 7200 Butte Avenue, 95982 in Sutter, CA.
