Akiko Normandin, 88, of Yuba City, CA, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, at Orchard Hospital, Gridley. She was born November 21, 1935, in Nagano-Ken, Japan. Akiko was a loving wife, mother and grandma. Akiko is survived by 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Arlene and Roy Jewell of Redding, CA, Belinda Bryant of Redding, CA, Nancy Demers of Southbridge, MA, and Gloria and Tab Brown of Yuba City, CA; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson. She had 3 siblings, Kazuto, Takashi and Shigeko Iizuka of Japan. Akiko was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Herbert "Bob" Normandin; and her parents, Jihei and Yasu (Fukushima) Iizuka of Japan. Akiko and Bob were well known in the community for their 25 years in the gasoline retail business in Marysville, Yuba City, Olivehurst and Davis, CA. Akiko and Bob were 2 of 17 people that met in a home living room setting in the winter of 1991, for a Bible study and to discuss and start Crossroads Community Church in Yuba City, CA, that today has become one of the largest Christian ministries in the Yuba-Sutter area. "They loved God and country." The family takes comfort in knowing Akiko is with Jesus now, in eternal peace and look forward to reuniting with her in heaven. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst, CA, with a Celebration of Life to follow at Cornerstone Church of Yuba City, CA.
