Apolonia Torres, age 79, passed after a short illness on June 19, 2021. She is survived by her children, who made up the entirety of her world, Jose Luis Rosas, Norberta Alicia Diaz, Gumecindo Rosas, Maria Clemencia Alvarez, Maria Trinidad DeBoard, Jose Alberto Rosas, Yesenia Ruiz and Leticia Fowler. Besides her children, Apolonia is survived by eleven grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Apolonia was born in Nayarit, Mexico and traveled to the U.S. in 1976, on a journey to provide a better life and endless opportunities for her children. She is described by many as strong, independent, head-strong and loving. Her fearlessness and sheer will to push forward regardless of the obstacle’s life placed in front of her is the example anyone who knew her. The church service and viewing will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021. Church service will be held at Cristo Rey in Salinas, CA at 10AM. The family will be providing refreshments from 11:30AM – 1PM at the hall located at Cristo Rey Church. The viewing will follow from 1PM - 5PM at Healy’s Mortuary with the Rosary being read at 3PM. We invite you to join us and share your memories and prayers for our mother as we grieve her passing.
