Joaquin Alfredo ""Al"" Reyes Duenas
May 11th, 1937 - October 25th, 2021
Joaquin Alfredo Reyes Duenas, Sr. (Al) took his final breath on October 25, 2021 at the age of 84. Al passed away with his loving wife Maria Teresita Guerrero Duenas by his side. Al was born in Agana, Guam on May 11, 1937, to father Francisco C. Duenas and mother Guadalupe R. Duenas. The oldest of 11 siblings, Al paved the way for his loved ones and joined the United States Army at the tender age of 17. Three years later, Al met Maria Teresita and they were destined to wed on August 6, 1960. During 21 highly decorated years of active service in the military, Al earned his rank of Platoon Sergeant, two Purple Hearts, multiple Bronze Stars, a Bronze Star with "V" device and he became a distinguished Jump Master and Master Mechanic, proving to be a heroic jack of all trades and a master of many. Toward the end of his military career, Al was stationed in Fort Ord, California. Following his retirement, he earned his Community College Teaching Credentials and taught diesel mechanics at a local trade school. Al, his wife Maria and their children set roots in nearby Salinas, CA. Al was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Jose, Frankie, Peter, Paul, and Frances; his son Frankie and daughter-in-law Maria; and great-granddaughter Elika. He is survived by his wife Mary; his siblings Florence, Martha, Josie-Anne, David and Edward; his children Joaquin (Diane), Teresa, Vincent and Joseph; grandchildren Joaquin (Brandy), Anthony (Michelle), Carrissa (Mario), Vincent, Christopher (Rosie), Andrew, Sharlene, Christa (Anthony), Nicholas (Jasmine), Nathan, Ricardo, Lillian, Adrian, Adan and Josh; and great-grandchildren Mary-Elizabeth, Anakin, Vicente, Ethan, Mia, Ace, Roman, Ruby, Luna, Sebastian, Owen, Kaleia and Jensen with two yet to make their debut. Friends and family are invited to join the Duenas family at the following: The Viewing and Rosary will be held at 13:00 on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas, CA 93905. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at St. Joseph's Church, 1 Railroad Ave., Spreckels, CA 93962. The Internment will be held at 13:30 on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery at 2900 Parker Flats Cut Off Rd., Seaside, CA 93955.

He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
