Consuelo "Connie" Ortiz Mendoza
July 28th, 1926 - April 17th, 2024
Consuelo “Connie” Ortiz Mendoza passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2024 at her home in Salinas, California surrounded by family and love. She lives on in her remaining children Christina Chacon, Geronimo “Jerry” Mendoza, Andrew Mendoza, and Paul Leyba, and was preceded in death by her children Ernesto “Ernie” Leyba, Steven Mendoza, Daniel Mendoza, David Mendoza Sr., and Antonio Mendoza Jr. She was mother to over 90 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren. She lived her life doing what she loved, taking care of her family, staying current on national and local affairs, spending time with her many friends, crocheting, gardening, playing word searches, and enjoying black cherry ice cream. She has touched many lives and in turn has affected generations with her ability to be gentle and strong, tender but firm, and was unwavering in her unconditional love. It is this love that has made Connie a mother to all. She will be truly missed and her time and work and love on this earth will forever be appreciated as her life has been a testament to struggle and triumph. A life full of tears, joy, and love. We love you and you will never be forgotten for you live on in all of us. Visitation for Connie will take place on Wednesday, April 24th at 10am for family only and 11am-12pm for friends. A Rosary Prayer Service will begin at 12pm and all services will take place at Healey Mortuary. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Prunedale.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
