Florence Elizabeth Silverthorn

Florence (Smokey) Elizabeth Silverthorn, 71, of El Cajon, California, passed away on August 15, 2018, in La Mesa, California. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at El Cajon Cemetery with Pastor Snelling officiating. A celebration of life will be held at her son Geoff’s home immediately following the service. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral and Cremation Care of La Mesa and the El Cajon Cemetery. Florence was born in Akron, Ohio, to Edward and Anna Snyder on September 9, 1946. She moved to San Diego with her family at 10 years of age and later attended El Cajon Valley High School. She married David Silverthorn and they celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on August 2, 2018. Florence worked as a utility officer for Bank of America for 39 years before retiring. Florence was a loving and supportive mother who always wanted the best for her children. Through her life, she enjoyed hobbies like creating stained glass, gardening, and knitting blankets. The most important thing to her was her family, which she was surrounded by at the time of her passing. Florence is preceded in death by her father, Edward, and her mother, Anna. Florence is survived by her husband, David, her son, Geoff and his wife Brande, her son, Josh, her son, Joel, and his wife, Meghan, sisters Marelene and Michele, and grandchildren, Kyle, Jake, Jaxon, Makenzy, and Braxton. The family of Florence wishes to extend their sincere thanks to everyone that has offered their love and support during this difficult time.
