Joanne M Richmond

Joanne Richmond passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on Sunday, June 12, 2022, in Ione, CA, at the age of 75. Joanne was born in Sacramento on January 17, 1947, the eldest child of the late Rosalie L. (Davenport) and Elton L. McLain. Joanne is survived by her life partner Forrest Kahle of Ione and Bullhead City; children Noele Richmond of Ione and Aaron and Amanda Richmond of Colorado; siblings Carol, Carmen, Kathy, and Arnham; and by her many grandchildren, the light of her life, Violet, Phoebe, Avan, Hannah, Travis, Shane, and Chance. Her siblings Thomas, James, and Daveen preceded Joanne in death. Joanne and former husband David Richmond, moved to Ione in 1975 to raise their family. Joanne jumped right into the community by starting a daycare where she met lifelong friends. She was actively involved with the Ione Business Association, United Methodist Church, Picnic Association, Marlins Swim Team, Community 4-H; as well as the Amador County Fair Junior Livestock Committee, Choraliers, and local politics. In 1979, she began her career with the California Youth Authority at Pine Grove Camp, then Preston School of Industry, retiring in 2007. In 2005, Joanne met her life partner Forrest, and they have spent the last 18 years traveling the world and enjoying life together. Joanne was a true renaissance woman. Whether she was painting, throwing pots, woodworking, rawhide braiding, costume making, legendary parade floats, or singing a beautiful soprano solo, she simply could do it all with skill and grace. Her fun-loving personality and zest for life drew many to her. She was kind, loyal, honest, an outstanding mother, and a loving grandmother. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy and will be tremendously missed. A memorial service will be held at the Ione United Methodist Church on July 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made in Joanne's name to the Amador County Fair Foundation, at amadorfairfoundation.com, P.O.
