Michael Charles Couto

Michael Charles Couto passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Jackson, CA at the age of 69. Born in New Bedford, MA on February 2, 1953 to the late Lucille Rawlins (Nascimento) and Guilherme William Couto, Mike was raised from the time he was 5 years old by his mother and step-father, Joseph Arruda, in San Leandro, CA. Mike was an avid horseman from an early age, enjoying riding the hills of the Castro Valley area, as well as participating in rodeo. He was a longtime member of the Rowell Ranch Rodeo advisory committee, serving as President of the Jr. Rodeo for several years. He always agreed that "the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man." Mike was a friend to many and someone you could count on when you needed a hand. He had a heart of gold and was faithful to keep in touch with many of his longtime friends. He surely will be missed. Mike is survived by his wife Romy Couto of Ione, CA and his son Matthew Couto of Mooresville, NC. He is preceded in death by his brother William Couto of Acushnet, MA. Interment will take place at Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
