Robert Nelson Vela

Robert Nelson Vela passed away on November 19, 2021. He was born on March 2, 1928, in Jackson, CA of parents Desalena (Cuneo) and Nelson Vela. He attended Jackson schools and graduated from Jackson High School in 1945. Upon graduation, Robert was employed with Pacific Gas and Electric Company for 47 years primarily as a warehouseman and a foreman’s clerk. In 1950, he married Hope Garcia, also of Jackson. They resided on Clinton Road since that time and, in 1960, became parents to their son, Richard. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Nelson and Desalena and his sister Dee Anna (Vela) Tasto. He is survived by his wife of 71 years Hope, his brother Harry Vela of Jackson, CA, son Richard (Tanya) Vela of Ione, CA, grandsons Robert Vela of Milwaukee, WI and Eric Vela of Phoenix, AZ and several nephews and nieces. A private graveside service was held at the Jackson Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Amador Senior Center at 229 New York Ranch Rd. Jackson, CA 95642.
