José Arnaldo Acosta, 66, of San Diego CA passed away on June 1, 2020. Jose “Big Poppa” Acosta was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico on Janurary 31, 1954 to Edith Mercedes Torres and Jose Angel Acosta. At the Age of 4 his family moved to the Bronx, NY in search of a new life in the big city. He joined the Navy at 18 and proudly served our country which took him to sunny San Diego. He fell in love with San Diego so much that he decided to stay. Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1975, he started a family soon after. He was a hard-working, well dressed, fresh pressed, dedicated man who worked for only a hand full of companies and created a large community of friends. At work, he was a =Vlookup extraordinaire and pivot table genius…only once you got him to sit down and work. He loved to socialize and was always deeply interested in friends and their families well-being. He loved to dance salsa, hike, walk and run. He loved the outdoors and everything that had to do with nature. For instance, Half-dome was a dream destination that we will need to visit in his name. He was an extraordinary man who was able to fill a silent room with laughter. He was loved by many and left a heart-felt, lasting impression with everyone he met. He is survived by his son and daughters who would describe him as a great father who always had the answer. In-person memorial services will be postponed until further notice due to present social distancing restrictions that with Covid-19.
