Daneri Mortuary
Uwe Dietz
September 3rd, 1943 - July 8th, 2021
Uwe Dietz passed away the afternoon of July 8, 2021, in Jackson, California. Born September 3, 1943, to Werner and Irmgard (Liebmann) Dietz, he was raised on a farm in Coburg, Germany and completed his automotive apprenticeship at Autohaus Willy Ernst prior to immigrating to the Chicago area as a mechanic for Volkswagen and Porsche-Audi in 1962. After serving in the US Army from 1965-1967, he settled in California where he raised his family, built his career among dealerships in the Bay Area, played and coached soccer, and taught auto mechanics in the community college system. He moved to Amador County in 1994, where he served as service and parts director for Jackson Ford-Mercury until his retirement in 2009 and coached for Mother Lode Youth Soccer and Argonaut High School. Uwe had an immense influence on many people’s lives. He was a natural and humble leader, believing the best congratulations came from seeing the successes of others—in their careers, with their families, or on the field. Uwe’s life exists beyond him, and he is survived by his two siblings, three children and five grandchildren and their extended families; his friends, colleagues, teammates, and neighbors; and those he coached, taught, and mentored. Donations may be made to the Dennis Dalton Foundation, 11450 Coyote Creek Dr., Jackson, CA 95642 (https://www.thedennisdaltonfoundation.org). A celebration of life will be held at the home of Christi and Robert Hahn at (301 N. View Court, Sutter Creek 95685; questions to [email protected]) on Saturday, July 31, from 1pm-5pm.
