On March 19, 2021, Pamela Louise Younger passed away peacefully in Fair Oaks, CA. Pam was born at the US Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA on March 5,1953 to her parents Leo and Betty Schauer. Her father eventually settled the family in Ione where he worked for the California Youth Authority at Preston. Pam attended and graduated from Ione Highschool in 1971. She was nominated and proudly became Miss Ione her junior year in 1970. During this time, she met and dated Steven Younger. As is with teenage romances, they moved on, each with marriages to others. After their respective divorces, they reunited and married in April of 1988. Both Pam and Steve shared a love of deep-sea fishing and camping. Pam worked in retail which funded their mini vacations up to Sitka, AK, where Steve had lived and worked for 14 years, before moving back to Ione and working for the City of Ione until his retirement. They also spent many happy vacations in Brookings, OR fishing and laying back! Auntie Pam was much loved by a plethora of nieces and nephews and children of friends. She was a staunch supporter of the GOP with multiple citations for her generosity and hard work. Pam is survived by her sister, Deborah Schauer and family of Ione; In-laws, Helen (Lorrie) Wilson of Ione, Deborah Harris of Sacramento, Linda Sherwood of Poulsbo WA, Philip Younger of Scottsdale AZ, Valerie Daley of Suisun City CA, and Jon Younger of Ione; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven, and brother, Leo. Private services will be held this summer for both Pam and Steve in Sitka AK. Donations can be made in Steven and Pam’s names to the Ione Fire Department Association as they were both strong supporters of Ione’s finest.
