Robert Eugene Souza

Robert Eugene Souza, of Jackson, CA, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the age of 86. He was born in Reed Springs, MO on July 12, 1933 to the late Ova J. (Cranfill) and Peter P. McDowell. Robert had a love for gardening and canning everything; peppers, fruits, and tomatoes to name a few. He won fair ribbons in salsa, hot sauce, and sixty-three flavors of jams, jellies and butters. He also made incredible spaghetti sauces from his tomatoes. He enjoyed outdoor activities; camping, fishing, and even survival prepping. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Robert cared for his mom for twenty years until her passing. He was the best pops and grandpa there ever was. Robert is survived by his daughter, Dotty Souza, of Amador City, CA; sons, Robert L. Souza, of Jackson, CA and Benjamin Souza, of Courtelain, ID; sister, Debra Souza, of CA; brothers, David (Josephine) Souza, of Jackson, CA, and Dennis (Barbara) Souza, of WA; and grandchildren, Chelsie, Daniel, Christopher, Jesi, Melissa, Andrew, Ayden, Drew, and Jake. Friends are invited to attend a public visitation at 12:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary, 415 Broadway, Jackson, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
