Rodney Craig Mello, age 81, of Sutter Creek, CA, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in Roseville, CA. Rodney was born in Oakland, CA on March 27, 1938, a son of the late Harriett Cecil (Bernal) and George Francis Pfaff. Rod loved sharing stories of his many adventures. He ran a successful trucking business for over thirty years and was later involved in manufacturing. He enjoyed collecting vintage radios and riding in his ‘46 Ford. He was quick to help when anyone needed him and took delight in completing projects at his home in Sutter Creek. His exuberant presence will be missed by all who knew him. Rodney is survived by his wife, Penny Mello of Sutter Creek; daughters, Elizabeth Bates, of Marysville, CA, Mary (Grafton) Smith, of Reno, NV, and Kathy Mello, of Bakersfield, CA; sons, Craig Gorski, of Sutter Creek, Gary Mello, of Concord, CA, and Dean Mello, of Clearlake, CA; step-daughter, Meghan Vidal, of Belmont, CA; step-sons, Sean O'Connor, of Campbell, CA, Justin O'Connor, of Jackson, CA, and Colin (Lisa) O'Connor, of Belmont, CA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.
