George Kenourgios, 87, of Jackson, CA passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home in Jackson with his three daughters by his side. George has been affectionately known as “Papu” to his family and grandchildren. George was born in Sacramento on August 4, 1931, the son of the late Nick Kenourgios and Stella (Sady). George worked at the Oak Park Florist in Sacramento for eight years where he met his wife, “Monty.” She was an usherette across the street at the Oak Park Theatre. After working a few years for the R.T. French Co. (French’s Mustard), George moved his family to Fresno to open a meat processing equipment company. After four years in Fresno, the same company offered him a regional sales position with HollyMatic Corp. in Kansas City, KS. Eight years later, he moved the family back to California and purchased a home in Jackson, 50 miles from where it all began. George and Monty started a small retail business called “Home & Farm Supply,” best known as “The Biggest Little Kitchen Store,” and spent the next 25 years working in their business. Their daughter Janie and her sons have taken over the kitchen store still in Jackson today. George and Monty had three wonderful daughters, Janie Williams and her husband Loren of Jackson, Sharon Cassella and her husband Jess of Jackson, and Abby Kenourgios of Pine Grove; grandchildren, Jenny Gardner and Brian Brunson, Jess Williams and Travis Williams, all of Jackson, Robert Blankenheim of Pine Grove, and Matthew Blankenheim of Vacaville; and ten great grandchildren, Haley, George, Luke, Jacob, Nathan, Joseph, Benjamin, Brooke, Elise, and Bodie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Monty. At George’s request there will be no services. Inurnment will be private. The family asks that you share your condolences and best memories of George on the online guest book at www.danerimortuary.com.
