William Heryford

William George "Bill" Heryford passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the age of 89. He was born in San Francisco and grew up in Stockton, California. He also lived in Sutter Creek, Arnold, Jackson, and most recently Angels Camp, California. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Corinne; his parents Harry and Elizabeth; his sister, Marguerite; half-brother, Berwyn (Janice); and his infant son, John. He is survived by his daughters Corinne (John) Allen and Barbara (Scot) Crews and sons Will (Tina), Jim (Yvonne), and Patrick. He is also survived by his grandchildren John (Liz), Adam, and Brian Allen; Haley, Jaymie, and Ryan Heryford; and Peter and Andrew Heryford; great-grandchildren Marlena, John and Blake Allen; and Austin and Allison Allen; and many nieces and nephews. Bill worked for his entire professional career at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill enthusiastically volunteered throughout his life to various service clubs and organizations. His love of community extended to the many friendships he maintained, some dating back to high school. When he retired, Bill took up a daily routine of jogging and fitness walking and kept a record of every day and mile he exercised. By July 2007 he had logged 24,901 miles, or the circumference of the earth. Family and friends joined him at the track at Amador High School when he jogged the last mile to reach this milestone. Bill and Corinne traveled extensively so his miles were logged aboard cruise ships, atop the Great Wall of China, inside Vatican City, and on and around countless other global landmarks. The family wishes to thank his physician, Dr. Bob Hartman, and the staffs of Foothill Village and Bristol Hospice for the loving care and compassion shown to Bill, especially in his final days. Arrangements for private interment have been made through Daneri Mortuary. A celebration of Bill’s life is planned for Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Teresa’s Place, 1235 Jackson Gate Road, Jackson, California. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
