Kate Mary Morrow
October 13th, 1918 - June 7th, 2018
Kate Mary Morrow, age 99, of Jackson, CA, passed away Thursday , June 7, 2018 in Lodi, CA. Kate was born in Martell, CA on October 13, 1918, a daughter of the late Angela (Corredera) and Andrew Gonzales. Kate grew up in Jackson Gate with her brothers John and Tony and her sisters Josephine and Mary. Kate graduated from Jackson High School. Her first job, while still in high school, was as a waitress serving the gold miners at Teresa’s Boarding House (now Teresa's Restaurant). Kate married her high school sweetheart Bill Morrow in 1940. She and Bill then moved to Suisun City, CA while Bill was stationed at Travis Air Force base during World War II. After the war, Bill and Kate returned to Jackson where they started their family, with daughters Karen and then Donna. After raising the girls, Kate helped Bill with the accounting for Bill’s Shell and Flying A service stations. Then Kate went to work for Wells Fargo Bank, from which she retired after fifteen years. Kate was a member of Eastern Star, from which she was awarded the 50 year pin. She was also a member of Native Daughters of the Golden West and the 18-30 club. Bill and Kate were married for 76 years and had many years enjoying time with their extended family. Our mother’s love and devotion to all of us is etched within us forever. We thank Vienna Nursing & Rehab for their compassion and wonderful support to Kate. Kate is survived by her daughters, Karen (Bruce) Palmer, of Novato, CA, and Donna (Jack) Crain, of Lodi, CA, and by her sister Mary Clark, of Jackson, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kevin Kearney, Carie Bennett, Colleen Horowitz , and Jennifer Cottle, by ten great grandchildren, and by numerous nieces and nephews. We all loved her and will miss her dearly. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at 11:30 A.M. at Daneri Mortuary, Jackson, CA on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Contributions may be sent in Kate’s name to Amador Senior Service, 229 New York Ranch Rd., Jackson, CA 95642 or to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Counties, P.O. Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642.
