Anahid Melkonian, age 80 of Santa Barbara, CA passed away Tuesday, January 12th surrounded by her family and loved ones at her Daughter’s home in Woodland Hills, CA. She was born in 1940 to the parents of Kevork and Siranoush Seropian who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death, 2 brothers, Alias and Hagop(in Aleppo, Syria). Anahid is survived by her husband Hagop Melkonian, 4 sons, Robert, Steve, Derek, David and daughter, Taleen. And 14 Grand Children. Also surviving are 3 brothers and 1 sister. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife and sister. She enjoyed cooking and making sure everyone was fed and taken care of. She loved to walk and was always moving around the house. Ana was a spiritual woman and involved in the local church and community. And most of all she loved being with her friends and family! Over the last 5 years, Ana’s condition was deteriorating. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and after a few falls, her mobility was compromised. She was living at an Armenian nursing home in Los Angeles and was frequently visited by friends and family until COVID hit in early 2020. The restrictions there made it difficult to see Ana as often as the family wanted to in concern for her safety and well-being. However, sadly in mid to late December Ana tested positive with the COVID virus and was hospitalized for nearly 3 weeks. Here condition continued to deteriorate, and the effects of the double pneumonia ended her life on 1/12/2021. Ana will always be remembered as the kindest, sweetest and most generous woman you could know. Her loss has devastated her children, friends and family not just here at home but all over the world. The family regrets that we are not able to celebrate mom’s life by gathering together but does appreciate all the calls, emails, texts and flowers in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ararat Home of Los Angeles where mom was cared for the last 4 years. Envelopes will be available upon request or left at the table. A graveside service will be held on Friday January 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Goleta Cemetery, 44 South San Antonio Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93110 Ararat Home Of Los Angeles 15105 Mission Hills Rd Mission Hills, CA 91345 Arrangements entrusted to McDermott-Crockett Mortuary
