Harry Price Lynd

Retired United States Marine Corps Sgt. Harry Price (HP) Lynd, age 78 of Rail Road Flat, CA entered into rest Saturday January 13, 2018 in Jackson, CA. He was born November 4, 1939 in Dallas, TX, to the late Lawrence Robert Sr. and Dorothy Maude (White) Lynd, and was the beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy) Ann (Sweet) Lynd. Harry served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959-1963, and while in the Marines he met and married his one true love Peggy on August 17, 1960 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, San Francisco, CA. Harry graduated from Heald's Business College with an Associate's Degree in Electronics, graduated Texas Christian University with an Associate's Degree in Business, and graduated Oklahoma Central State with a Bachelor of Science in Management. Harry worked for Eastman Kodak for 25 years retiring as a District Service Manager. After retiring from Kodak, Harry worked for Drake as a consultant and as a managing consultant for Beam Morin. Harry belonged to the Marine Corps League, Detachment #1080 and the American Legion Calaveras Post 376 Veterans. Harry had an infectious and beaming smile that brightened each room he entered. He often greeted people with that beaming smile and asked, "How you doing Pal?" Harry was surrounded by extended family that he took in as one of his siblings, kids, or grandkids. He was often the voice of reason, a strong shoulder to lean on, or just a warm hug for those in need. To those that knew him, his role in the family is irreplaceable and he will be missed dearly. Harry leaves behind a loving wife of 57 years, Margaret (Peggy) Lynd, of Rail Road Flat, CA; son, Jeffrey (Michele) Lynd, of Wiley, TX; daughter, Jennifer Lynd King, of Yukon, OK; son, Stephen Lynd, of Wiley, TX; brother, Lawrence Robert Lynd, Jr, of Austin, TX; sister, Deborah Bowen, of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Trey King, Brittany King Keys, Courtney Almer & Hunter James Lynd; great grandchildren, Keelie Herrington, Daxton Lowe, Nehemiah Keys; he was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Robert Lynd, Sr., Dorothy Maude White Lynd, and his sister, Melissa Tomlinson. Friends and family are invited to attend the mass of Christian burial at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 11361 Prospect Drive, Jackson, CA. Interment will follow at the Independence Cemetery, Rail Road Flat, CA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Calaveras Marine Corps Toys for Tots, P.O. Box 1372, Valley Springs, CA 95252, or American Legion Post 376 Scholarship Fund, 2769 Upper Dorray Rd., Glencoe, CA 95232.
