John Allen Maurer
October 13th, 1936 - December 5th, 2017
John "Jack" Allen Maurer of Jackson passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Jack was born on October 13, 1936 in San Francisco, California to the late John and Lois Gamba. He grew up in Stockton, California with his mother Lois, adoptive father Roy Maurer and brother Charles Maurer. Following his graduation from San Jose State University in 1961, Jack began his career as an actuary and later became a Fellow with the Society of Actuaries in 1968. He had a varied career spanning thirty years working for some of the most well-known names in the health insurance industry. He was not only a highly skilled mathematician, but also a gifted writer. He authored the articles "Sharing the Burden" and "Gramm's Health-care Proposal Deserves a Second Look" published in Best's Review, May 1992 and the Fort Worth Star Telegram Editorial/Opinion page, December 1993. Outside of his career his interest included reading, traveling, poker, the stock market and classical music. He was a bright and interesting man whose intellect seemed to know no bounds. Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Maurer of Jackson, CA; daughter Laurel Maurer of Barre, VT; son John Maurer of Bellingham, WA; daughter Lindsay Allen (Scott) of Klamath Falls, OR; daughter Kimberly Maurer of San Ramon, CA; and brother Charles Maurer (Shirley) of Charlotte, NC. Interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, in Galveston, TX. Arrangements were handled by Daneri Mortuary in Jackson, CA. Odpocívej v pokoji, dokud se znovu nesetkáme.
