Marla Marie Colburn Moreno age 85, of Plymouth, CA, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Jackson, CA. She was born to the late Harold and Marie (Hinds) Colburn on January 5, 1932 in Merced, CA. Marla moved to Plymouth in 1934 attending school at Plymouth Elementary and Sutter Creek Union High School. After graduating with her Associate Arts Degree from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont CA, she married Antonio "Tony" Moreno on June 30, 1951 in Carson City NV. They moved to the Bay Area where Tony worked in the shipyards. While raising her six children, she worked as the accountant for Colburn's Drug, bookkeeper for the College of Notre Dame and returned to night classes at college. In 1969, she graduated from the College of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Teaching Credential before moving back to their primary residence in Plymouth. Over the years, she taught at Notre Dame High School, Amador High School, Amador County ROP Program, San Joaquin Delta College and Mule Creek State Prison, as well as Catechism at St Mary's. Marla was very active in her community. She was a member of the San Mateo High School Band Auxiliary, belonged to the St. Timothy Altar Society, served on the Plymouth Planning Commission, Past President and member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West Forrest Parlor 86, life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, founder and community club leader of Gold Nugget 4-H in Plymouth, member of the St. Mary's Altar Society, and founder and board member of the Plymouth and Pioneer Medical Centers. Tony and Marla built and operated Moreno's General Store in Plymouth for many years. She organized many community events including the annual 49er Days Parade and Celebration. She was often seen at the Amador County Fair working on exhibits, gardens or admiring her family's entries. She was a friend and advocate to anyone that her path crossed. Above all, she considered her family her greatest life accomplishment. She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Moreno of Folsom; Rosemarie Moody (Robert), of Plymouth; sons, Frank Moreno (Cindy), of Plymouth; Myron Moreno (Karen) , of San Jose; Dominic Moreno (Lori) of Volcano; Antonio John Moreno, of Plymouth; sister, Nan Wolf; brothers, Harold E. Colburn, Jr., Gary Colburn and Jon Colburn; grandchildren, Briana (Creighton), Melissa (Jason), Jennifer (Matt), Kristin (Brent), Julie, Robyn (Nick), Christina (Edgar), Jeff (David), Melanie (Larry), Allyson (Garrett), Victoria, Timothy (Autumn), Jonathan (Robin), Daniel, Patrick, Cody, Kyle, Christopher; great grandchildren Josephine, Saveah, Isabella, Jerri Ann, Haydin, Colton, Beau, Bonnie, Jonny, Zoey and Owen. She was preceded by her beloved husband, Tony in 2012; children, Antonio Manuel Moreno, Jr., Teresa Anne Moreno and Joseph Emery Moreno. Friends are invited to attend a vigil Friday, November 24, 2017, 6:00 PM at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson and a mass of Christian burial on Saturday, November 25, 2017, 11:00 AM at St. Mary's of the Mountains Catholic Church in Plymouth and a celebration of life on Saturday, November 25, 2017, 1:00 PM at the Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth. Contributions in Marla's name may be made to the individual's charity of choice.
