Barbara Jean Lafleur
October 17th, 1946 - September 25th, 2017
Barbara Jean Lafleur passed on September 25, at the home of her sisters, Susan Aasen and Kristi Hopkins in Jackson CA, after a long illness. Barbara was born in Billings, Montana in 1946 and moved, with her family, to Palo Alto at the age of eight. After graduating from Paly High she attended San Francisco State where she was awarded a teachers credential. She lived in San Francisco, working many years for SFUSD transporting special needs children to/from school. Later she retired from teaching English as a second language. Barbara was a talented jazz musician adept at the alto sax, piano, drums, and clarinet and spoke fluent French, Spanish and some Japanese. She leaves behind another sister Alycia Hopkins of San Anselmo, nephews Eric and Roy Aasen and their families, of Santa Cruz and San Antonio, and "Cowboy," her constant canine companion. Barbara was incredibly courageous in facing her illness and death. Donations can be made to a local Hospice in her name.
