Mr. Alberto Mercado of Santa Barbara, CA, USA passed away suddenly on 26 of October, 2022 at his home in Santa Barbara, CA surrounded by his wife of 61 years and family. He was born in January, 1940 in Turin, Italy. Residences include Italy, Bolivia, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Alberto received his BS from Cal State Los Angeles, MA and post doctorate work from UCLA and worked for Litton, Magnavox, & TRW as an Aerospace Engineer. Alberto enjoyed traveling, entertaining, playing his violin, participating in politics, drinking fine wines & scotch, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was an avid athlete his entire life (semi-pro soccer player, marathon runner, gym appassionato). Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nelly Mercado of Santa Barbara; his three sons, Albert Mercado of Phoenix, AZ; Giancarlo Mercado of Los Angeles, CA; Franco Mercado of Santa Barbara, CA; his grandchildren Ryan Mercado of Salt Lake City, UT, Gina Mercado of Scottsdale, AZ; great granddaughter Adelina of Salt Lake City, UT, sister Fiamma Canepa of Santiago, Chile, brother-in-law Gianni Canepa of Santiago, Chile; sister-in-law Maria Mercado, of Walnut Creek, CA and daughter-n-law Ana Mercado of Phoenix, AZ as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Europe and North & South America. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
