Robert John Swensen passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 in Jackson, Ca. He was born to Catherine B. (Oneto) and Bert Swensen in Jackson, Ca on September 6, 1928. He attended schools in Jackson graduating from Jackson High School in 1946. He worked with his stepfather in the shoe repair business on Main St. On September 10, 1950, he married his high school girlfriend Phyllis (Munson). In January 1951, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After basic training, Robert was sent to Korea until December 1953 Phyllis and Robert made their home on Hoffman St. in Jackson, Ca. and have lived there ever since. After his stepfather, retired Robert ran Swensen Shoes until 1983 when Robert Jr. took over. Robert is survived by his wife, Phyllis of 65 years; his children, Pam (Phil), Robert (Nancy) and Debbie (Mike); six grandchildren, Kelly, Robbie, Jillian, Elisse, Mitchell and Casey; two great grandchildren, Robbie and Tyler. A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jackson, Ca. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Private graveside service to follow. Donations may be made to STARS P.O.
