Marian Kathryn Richardson
July 8th, 1924 - March 12th, 2015
Marian Kathryn Richardson, 90, of Santa Barbara, died March 12, 2015. Kathy, daughter of Vera and Lee Wilkins of Lindsay, California, is survived by sons Randall King and Jeffrey King; daughters-in-law Jane and Carol King; step-daughter Sally Strohl; granddaughter Karoli and son-in-law Ralph; grandsons Sam, David and Nathan; and great-granddaughter Hanna and great-grandson Matthew. Kathy was born in Los Angeles in 1924 but moved from Lindsay, where she spent her early years, to Santa Barbara to attend Santa Barbara High School. After graduating with her class of 1942, she attended the Santa Barbara State College on the Riviera. She worked at Jostens on Ortega Hill for 10 years in the personnel department before moving to Palm Desert with her late husband, Joseph Richardson, where she worked as a bookkeeper for the local radio station, KPSI, for over a decade before retiring. Kathy returned to Santa Barbara in 2004. She volunteered at the Santa Barbara Braille Center and attended the first "Connections" program at the Montecito Friendship Center. Her many friends in Lindsay, Palm Desert and Santa Barbara loved her grace and happy spirit. She loved walking the Santa Barbara foothills and later, the hallways of Wood Glen Hall and The Californian. Her family wishes to thank the professional and caring staffs of the Friendship Center, Wood Glen Hall and The Californian who supported Kathy so lovingly in her battle with dementia.
