Marguerite Hill
September 28th, 1960 - December 26th, 2015
Marguerite Mackey Hill of Ione, CA. died suddenly on December 26, 2015, of complications from pneumonia. Marguerite was born on Long Island, NY. and moved to California as a teenager in 1973. She graduated from Livermore High School in 1978, and received her A.A. degree from Las Positas College. She worked as a Special Education Aide for Livermore School District and was dedicated to her students. Marguerite enjoyed the outdoor life and the warm weather that allowed her to show her pretty legs in shorts year-round. Reading was a huge part of her life, and she loved sharing good books. She will be remembered for her joyful nature, her infectious laugh and her devotion to her children. Marguerite's parents, Walter and Dorothy Mackey of Livermore, CA. preceded her in death, as did her nephew Kevin Mackey. She is survived by the love of her life, Marty Kelley of Ione; her daughter, Melanie Hill of Livermore, and her son, Conner Hill of Lodi; her step-daughters, Cierra and Emily Kelley and her step-granddaughter, Sophia; her sisters, Barbara Galvin and Stephanie Mackey of Berkeley, and brothers, Jack Mackey of St. Petersburg, Gerard Mackey of Brooklyn, Andrew Mackey of Northampton, Mass. and Daniel Mackey of San Francisco; eight nieces and nephews, and eleven great nieces and nephews. A celebratory memorial will be held in Berkeley at Barbara and Kevin Galvin's home on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Please contact [email protected] for more details. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you make a donation to Books for Kids at http://www.booksforkids.org/, a nonprofit that provides books to underserved children.
