Verna Florence Warren
July 31st, 1935 - July 4th, 2015
Verna Florence McElhaney-Warren, born in Gore, OK was a resident of Amador City for 40 years. Due to health reasons she spent her last years in Salida, CA. Verna entered into rest after suffering with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday July 4th, 2015 at the age of 78 years old. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Carl William Warren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Sheila Steele and Paula Frisby of Manteca, CA and 5 sons; Bill Warren of Jackson, CA, Gary Warren of Panama City Beach, FL, Larry Warren of Lynnwood, WA, Roger Warren of Mt. Aukum, CA, Steve Warren of Napa, CA; a brother Bill McElhaney of Appling, GA, sisters Dee Smith of Oktaha, OK, Carolyn Mayes of Muskegee, OK and brother in law, Clyde Warren of WestPoint, CA; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Until her illness Verna was active in her church, Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene as well as volunteering at the Amador County Senior Center. She was also the assistant cook at the Jackson Rancheria and the Amador County Senior Center. Verna was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Verna is remembered as a very generous person, who gave of herself freely to her family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service for Verna will be held at the Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road Sutter Creek, CA, on Friday, August 7th, 2015 at 1100 am. Verna will be interned at the Sunset View Cemetery a reception will follow at Deter Park, Jackson CA. For those who would like to make a Memorial gifts we request they be made to the Sutter Creek Church of the Nazarene, Hospice of Stanislaus or your charity of choice.
