Robert Zucherman, M.D. passed away peacefully on November 3, 2017 in Santa Barbara. Robert was born on August 29, 1930 Cheyenne, Wyoming. He attended Cheyenne High school through 11th grade. The family moved to Denver, Colorado, he graduated from North Denver High School in 1948. In high school he was a member of the National Honor Society and captain of his high school tennis team. He attended the University of Denver on an academic scholarship. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1951 with a BA degree in chemistry; he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He then attended the University of Colorado Medical School and graduated in 1955 with a doctor of medicine degree. He interned at Los Angeles County Hospital from 1955-1956 then became a resident in orthopedic surgery from 1956-1960 at Harbor U.C.L.A. Medical Center. From 1960-1962 he served in the U.S. Navy as Lt. Cdr. at the U.S. Naval Hospital at Bremerton, Washington. After being discharged from the U.S. Navy he practiced Orthopedic surgery for 32 years in Inglewood and Westchester. He was on staff at Centinela Medical Center, Daniel Freeman and Mercy Marina Hospitals. In the early 70's he served on the U.S. Hope Ship in Maceio, Brazil. He also did volunteer work in Jakarta, Indonesia, with Care Medico. He was chief of staff at Centinela Medical Center in 1978. He served as team physician for the L.A. Aztec soccer team in 1981. He was an asst. Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at U.C.L.A. He was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and Western Orthopedic Assoc. After retirement from medical practice in 1993, he and his wife Patty, moved to Santa Barbara. He was a member of B'nai B'rith Congregation, Montecito Country Club, Cosmopolitan Club, Navy League of S.B. He served as a National Commissioner of the A.D.L. and was on the board of directors for the University of Colorado Medical Alumni Association from 2005-2006. Patty and Bob met on a blind date in 1977. It was a love match. They married in 1982. Bob leaves behind his beloved wife Patty, son Mark Zucherman (Inez), daughter Lesli Weissman (Avi), daughter Lindsey Beil (John), daughter Jamie Sands. Grandchildren Hannah and Aaron Zucherman, Thousand Oaks. Matan,David, Maya, Haifa, Israel. Zachary, Luke, Logan Beil Leawood, Kansas. Beckett Sands Sherman Oaks. Nephews Tod Zuckerman and Jimmy Zucherman ( Hilary) San Francisco. We wish to thank Dr. Watson, Shirley, Linda and all the devoted staff at S.B. Cardiovascular. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation B'nai B'rith or Tri-Counties Anti-Defamation League. Arrangements entrusted to McDermott-Crockett and Associates Mortuary.
