Elma J Macur
January 17th, 1921 - May 10th, 2014
Elma was the daughter of Marenus and Winnefred Vollink, born on a farm near Archer, Iowa. After her graduation from Archer High School in 1938, Elma attended business school in Soux City, Iowa, and then worked for Morningside College in Sioux City where she met her future husband, Ted Macur, a Morningside student. They were married March 20, 1944 in New York City when Ted was stationed as a Navy Pilot. Following the war they returned to Iowa where Ted was an elementary educator and principal and Elma, a homemaker, first lived in Gowrie, Iowa then in Perry, Iowa. The family moved to Fremont, CA in 1964, Elma remained a homemaker and also was employed as an elementary school secretary. Elma and Ted relocated to Jackson in 2003 after retiring. She is survived by her children, Roger (Sherrill), Michael (Lynn), Mary Ann; grandchildren, Amy Dupuis (Bret), Mark Macur, Erica Kantack (Matt), Nicole & Allison Macur, Clinton Tremelling; 5 great-grandchildren and her sister, Darlene Tiemens (Howard). She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; son, Randy; and daughter-in-law, Janet. Mom was a kind, gentle soul and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Private family services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jackson. Interment will be at Garden of Tranquility, Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties, PO Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642.
