Daniel Dale Combs

Daniel Dale Combs, 51, passed away December 15, 2013, at his home in Pine Grove, CA. surrounded by his loving Family, following a year-long battle with cancer. Dan was born on November 23, 1962, to Dale W. Combs and Suzanne M. Tofte (O'Connell). He was born in the Barrett Memorial Hospital in Dillon, Montana. Dan grew up in Montana, primarily in Wise River, where he helped to build the family home. Although his path later took him away from Montana, he always considered it his home. Dan attended school in Montana and California, graduating from high school from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, CA, and Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Following college, Dan moved to California, where he worked full time for the National Guard, and more recently as a Registered Nurse, in Sacramento, CA. Throughout his life, Dan loved sports of any type. He enjoyed watching, playing and coaching numerous sports. He particularly took great pleasure in coaching youth sports, which allowed him to spend lots of time with his daughter Katie. He also loved spending time with his family in Montana, California, Nevada, and Washington. Reunions, vacations, weddings, and even funerals were always events that Dan took the time to attend. He held Family above all else, and was at his happiest when surrounded by them. Dan is survived by; his loving wife, Gretchen Combs, and the light of his life, daughter, Katelyn Anne Combs, both of Pine Grove, CA., parents Dale and MilAnn Combs, Wise River, MT., and Suzanne and Dave Tofte, San Jose, CA., siblings, Scott and Ellie Combs and their children, Abigail and Scottie of Butte, MT., Bobby and Cindy Beers, and their children Megan, Emily, and R.J. Beers of Billings, MT., and Cari and Jim Lucey, and daughter Milynn, of Eureka, MT. Also surviving are numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins, whom Dan cherished. Dan's journey is coming to a close, but he will always be loved, and remembered by the many lives that he touched. Rest in peace. A celebration of Dan's Journey will be held in The Nazarene Church of Sutter Creek, CA. at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Dan's final resting place will be in the Tranquility Garden at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson, CA.
