William Lonnie Martin, Sr.
August 27th, 1932 - March 16th, 2013
William "Red" Lonnie Martin, Sr. passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Jackson at the age of 80. He was born in Paris, TX on August 27, 1932 to the late William and Fannie (Higgins) Martin. Red served in the US Army from 1954 - 1956, CO H 85th Inf Reg 10th Inf division, Fort Riley, Kansas during the Korean War. After discharge he moved to Amador County where he made Jackson his home. He was employed as a lumber operator in 1957 at the Winton Lumber Company in Martell, CA retiring in 1989 from the Georgia Pacific Company. Red was also employed at Vicini Tire for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching football, (especially Dallas Cowboys), baseball and Nascar. Red was also an active member of the American Legion Post 108. Red is survived by sons, Rusty Martin and wife, Melanie of Jackson, Bobby Martin of Jackson, James Keeth and wife, Janell of Red Bluff; daughters, Sherry Lane and husband, Kevin of Ione, Suzanne Lewis and husband, Virgil of Diamond Bar, Kittie Riebson and husband, Mark of Tigard, OR; brothers, Billy Martin, Ray Aubrey; sisters, Julia Boyd, Mary Giannini and husband, Lester, and Ruby Buksa; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; best friends until the end, Shirley Martin-Lofing, Dick Maffitt, Albert Pena; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Red was preceded in death by his wife, Vallie Jean Martin in 2001. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, April 20, 2013, 2:00 PM at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Inurnment will be in the Jackson City Cemetery in Jackson; CA. Memorial contributions may be made to STARS, P.O. Box 208, Jackson, CA 95642.
