Lawrence "Larry" Richard Frey of Pine Grove, CA, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in Sacramento, CA at the age of 61. He was born in San Francisco, CA on January 5, 1951 to Charles and Dolores (Roberts) Frey. Larry graduated in 1969 from Hillsdale High School in San Mateo. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marines Corps and was a member of the American Legion Post 108 and American Legion Riders. Larry married Allana Jones on October 31, 1981 in Carson City, NV. Larry was a correctional officer at Preston School of Industry for 16 years retiring in 2001. Larry began his retirement job at the recycling shop in Pine Grove. He was know as the "Can Man" and adopted stray cats, making sure they were well fed. Larry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Allana Frey of Pine Grove; daughters, Tina Dal Porto and her husband, Cleave of Jackson, Angie Stone and her husband, Jay Truelock of Sutter Creek; son, Robert Stone and his wife, Kristen of Sutter Creek; sister, Mary Behrendt of Citrus Heights; brother, Chuck Frey and his wife, Carol of Evansville, IN; and grandchildren, Ben, Ashley, Westen, Brandon, Spencer, Michael, Brianna, Natasha, Kiley. He was also survived by his sister-in-law, Glenda Compton; brothers-in-law and their wives, Owen and Linda Jones, David and Pat Jones, Melvin and Chris Jones; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Frey. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life Friday, May 25 at 3:00 P.M. at the American Legion Hall in Sutter Creek.
