Phyllis passed away unexpectedly on the morning of March 6, 2012. She was born in San Rafael, CA, attended elementary school in Tam Valley and graduated from Tamalpais High School. She was a member of the Rhubarb Review in Marin County. While attending college at U.C. Davis, Phyllis met the love of her life Tom Giacomini. After graduation from U.C. Davis in 1965, Phyllis received her teaching credential at San Francisco State and began her teaching career at Bernard Hoffman Elementary School in Terra Linda. Tom and Phyllis were married in 1966. In 1969 Phyllis and Tom moved to Fortuna. For the next 32 years she was a coach's wife. Phyllis was a regular at College of the Redwoods athletic games and behind the concession stand at Humboldt Crabs baseball games. She loved staying home to raise her children Joele and Jon. She volunteered as an art instructor at St. Bernard's Elementary in Eureka. She will be best remembered as "The Bingo Lady." She ran the Bingo program for St. Bernard's High School for 17 years. For her service to the school, she was inducted into the St. Bernard's Hall of Fame. Phyllis is preceded in death by her father Robert Miller Davis, mother Marguerite Davis, and brother Robert. She is survived by husband of 45 years Tom Giacomini, daughter Joele Giacomini King (Kevin), son Jon Giacomini (Rosemary) and grandchildren Megan, Amanda, Robert, Natalie, and Andrew. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. She leaves behind countless friends from Humboldt County who shared her love of cooking, sports, and bingo. A private burial service will take place in San Rafael. Memorial contributions may be sent to: Tom & Phyllis Giacomini Scholarship Fund at College of the Redwoods or to a charity of your choice.
