He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. Roy was stationed in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack. He truly lived the "American dream". He left the service after five years and became a Long Beach Police officer on the motor squad. He married Nellie Lee Launders on April 7, 1946 and soon added a son, Michael and daughter, Marsha. He retired from the Police Dept. on February 28, 1974 and moved to Palm Desert. Roy returned to school and received his landscape contractor's license. After 30 years he moved to Pioneer to be near his daughter. Roy was an active member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Chapter 21 and taught young school students about his experience. Roy was a member of the VFW in Sutter Hill and a member of Sierra Baptist Church in Pioneer. He loved plants, animals, traveling and being involved with his family and friends. Roy returned to Pearl Harbor six times for the memorial services honoring the veterans. He is survived by his children, Michael Roy Brown and wife, Jarie of La Palma, CA, Marsha Carole Burney and husband, Boots of Pioneer; brother, Ron Brown and his wife, Aileen of Fallon, NV; grandsons, Jason Roy Bardin and Michael Shawn Brown; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Bardin, Cody Bardin, T.J.
