Leonard "Lenny" Martin
September 2nd, 1952 - May 19th, 2011
Leonard "Lenny" Martin passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 in Jackson at the age of 58 years. He was born September 2, 1952 to Walter and Dorothy (Eaton) Martin in Oakland, CA and grew up in San Leandro and Hayward. At age 19 in the 1970's he moved to Hawaii. He enjoyed the beach lifestyle, swimming and diving off bridges and rocks. He worked for an electrical company running underground cable. Lenny was electrocuted while on the job and was never able to work again. He returned to live in California in the 1980's. He enjoyed making picture collages, playing drums, and was a good boxer. Lenny had a great sense of humor and loved to entertain family and friends making up songs for them. He is survived by his companion, Marilyn Perez of Ione; children, Michelle Martin of Connecticut, Lenny Martin of Redding, Christie Martin of Hawaii; mother and step-father, Dorothy and Mitchell Ashline of Pine Grove; sisters, Corrinne Blevis of Ione, Cheryl Vahey of Castro Valley; step-brothers, Michael Ashline of Visalia, Gary Ashline of Ohio; step-sisters, Lynette Ruiz of Visalia, Debbie Lopez of Visalia; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Martin; brother, Gregory Martin; sister, Cindy Martin; step-sister, Cathy Ashline; and step-brother, Ricky Ashline. Friends are invited to attend a visitation Friday, May 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28 at 11:00 A.M. at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Inurnment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Interfaith Food Bank, 12181 Airport Rd., Jackson, CA 95642.
