Dina Tarantino passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 in Jackson at the age of 90 years. She was born November 9, 1920 to Gabriele and Creusa (Menchetti) DelCarlo in Porcari, Italy. Her family moved to America when she was two years old settling in Ft. Bragg and she grew up in San Francisco. Dina was friends with the Tarantino sisters, whom she met while living in New Jersey. The sisters sent gifts to Dina by way of their brother, Larry who just happened to be traveling to California. Soon after Larry and Dina began dating and they were married on March 19, 1949 in San Francisco, CA. and ten years later made their home in Amador County. Dina attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jackson since 1959 and worked in bookkeeping at Bank of America in Jackson from 1966 until retiring in 1983. She was a loving, dedicated wife and mother; doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and granddog, Zinny. Dina enjoyed the weekly lunch dates with her daughters and the family dinners on Sunday. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Rose Olmstead and husband, John, Linda Tarantino all of Jackson, Laura McGrath and husband, Joe of Lodi; brother, Dario DelCarlo and wife, Margaret of Stockton; grandchildren, Danica, Sara, Tiffany, Eric, Dora, Andrea, Kelly, Jamie; great-grandchildren, Bella, Cadence, Nicholas, Landon, and Brendan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Larry Tarantino on February 20, 2000. Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jackson. Inurnment will be in the Keystone Mausoleum at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties, P.O. Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642.
