David passed away July 28, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento. Born June 5, 1939, in Dayton Ohio, his family came to southern California where he grew up. Graduating from high school in 1958 he joined the Navy and served until 1963. Attending Citrus College and Fresno State he received his Masters and joined PG & E. First working in both Bakersfield and Fresno, he went into the central office in San Francisco in 1967 at the beginning of its move into computerization. As a senior computer analyst, David was in charge of all information systems affecting the customers. In the meantime he also found and married the love of his life, Anne. Spending a lot of time hiking and camping in the Sierra they built a cabin in Amador Pines in 1973. Anticipating retirement, they bought another home in the Pines and became full-time residents in 1990. Camping and four-wheeling throughout the West and travelling around the U. S. led to his interest in pioneer emigration and he became a member of the Oregon California Trail Association dedicated to the preservation of the pioneer trails to the West. His interest in the West included trains and he enjoyed working on his model railroad. Over the years he was an active parishioner at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church and the Amador Pines Landowners Assn. But increasing poor health finally caught up with him and Our Lord called him home. He was an honest man, straightforward and fair to all people. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Anne, his sisters, Elaine Clark and Gail McCarthy and her husband Leo; his niece, Lisa Podvoiskis, and her husband David; nephews, Brian Morris, Mark McCarthy, Matt McCarthy and other relatives. Services at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Pioneer on Thursday August 5 at 12:00 P.M. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.
