Elizabeth "Betty" Baker
April 1st, 1923 - July 8th, 2010
Elizabeth "Betty" Baker, known to most as "Gran", passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson at the age of 87 years. She was born April 1, 1923 to Frederick and Annie (Le Roy) Cooper in New Zealand. Betty married Henry Baker in 1943 in New Zealand. A year later the newlyweds moved to the United States. She loved her family, friends, and her church family. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, reading, and e-mailing, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Franchi of Jackson; son, Bruce Baker of Riverside; sister, Gladys Peterson of Minnesota; grandchildren, Lisa Phillips, Anne Hough, Wendy Bowen, Shawn Baker, Brandi Baker, and Anthony Franchi; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. A beautiful memorial service was held Sunday, July 11 at Grace Fellowship in Jackson. Interment will be in the Garden of Golden Memories at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Fellowship Building Fund, P.O. Box 850, Jackson, CA 95642.
