Charlotte Elizabeth Murphy November 6, 1927 - November 3, 2015 Charlotte Murphy, formerly of Troy, NY passed peacefully in her sleep at Mission View Health Center in San Luis Obispo, CA on November 3rd, three days shy of her 88th birthday. Born in Troy to Frank and Ella Mae Murphy, Charlotte was removed from her mother's care at 2 yrs of age because of significant developmental delays. Charlotte was admitted to Rome State School at 5 yrs of age and remained in state care until 1976 when she was resettled in Troy in the care of the Rensselaer ARC. In 1997 Charlotte moved with her guardians, Monna L. Dingman and Anne E Little to Santa Maria, CA. Charlotte remained in Santa Maria until, following a serious illness, she was admitted to Mission View Health Center. Although never able to speak or to independently care for herself, Charlotte nonetheless developed deep and lasting friendships with all who took the time to know her. Charlotte had a wonderful sense of humor, found joy in simple things, and had great compassion for others. She is survived by her adoptive family: Monna L. Dingman & Anne E Little, Frances C. Dingman, Marge Darmento, Craig & Denise Dingman, Carol Dingman & Sam Citron, Martha & John Edwards, Teresa Dingman & Paul Lloyd, Cindy Thiebault ; her nieces & nephews: Scott Dingman & son Daniel; Henry Dingman; Jenna Edwards, Ericka Edwards & son Vincent, Kadie Edwards & son Lucien, & Hailey Edwards; Monica & Danielle Dingman; William Lloyd and the countless friends she has made on her remarkable life journey. McDermott-Crockett Mortuary, Santa Barbara, CA, is handling funereal arrangements; Charlotte will be interred in Los Alamos, CA. Contributions in Charlotte's memory may be made to VTC Enterprises, Santa Maria, CA or Mission View Health Center, San Luis Obispo, CA.
