Gary Isamu Masuda
November 19th, 1944 - December 28th, 2023
Gary Masuda, 79, a resident of Galt, passed away on Thursday, December 28th in French Camp, California. Gary was born in Topaz, an internment camp in Utah, during World War II. After the war, his family moved back to California. He and his brothers worked on the family’s strawberry farm. He graduated from Samuel Ayer High School in 1962 and enrolled in the United States Army. In 1973 he met Jane, and they were married in 1974. Gary and Jane made their home in San Jose and had two daughters. Gary worked as a gardener for over 30 years. The family moved to Galt in 1991. Gary loved fishing and cooking for his family. He was a sports fan and was dedicated to the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and Golden State Warriors. Gary and Jane were excited to welcome their grandchildren in 2014 and 2017. The Masuda family would like to give a sincere thank you to Gary’s long-time doctors and their staffs, the hospital staffs, and Vienna nursing home staff, friends, and neighbors who helped care for him during his last months. Gary is survived by his wife, Jane. Daughters Miyoko Masuda, Kome (Deric) Muller. Sister, Carol Okamoto, Brothers, Larry Masuda, Allen Masuda, and Lester (Mary) Masuda. His grandchildren, Takumi, and Kazuto Muller. And his beloved dog, Winston. A celebration of life will be held at Woodbridge Community Church on Saturday, January 27th at 11:00am, followed by a reception at Brewster’s Grill in Galt at 1:00pm.
