Frank Castillo, 61, lifelong resident of Salinas, passed away with family by his side, on December 31, 2013 in Salinas. He was born on May 9, 1952 in Fresno, CA. Frank proudly served in the U. S. Army with the 82nd Airborne and as a Platoon Sargeant with the National Guard. He was a Vietnam veteran. Frank was an active member of the American Legion Post #31, where he founded and participated proudly in the Legion's Honor Guard. He also coached girl's softball and boy's baseball locally. Frank is survived by his wife, Connie Castillo; daughter, Davina Castillo; sons, Thomas (Hope) Castillo, Anthony Castillo and Steven (Mayra) Castillo; sisters, Nellie Ruiz and Grace Ortega; brother, Larry Castillo; grandchildren, Sandra, Thomas, Stella, Sophia, Desiree, David, Derrek and Joseph also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Guadalupe Castillo, and his brothers, Rosendo, Raymond, Mike and David. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 1-6pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Rosary vigil will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 7pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church 22 Stone St. Salinas, CA 93901. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 10am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Reception will follow services at the American Legion Post #31 14 W. Laurel Drive Salinas, CA 93906. Burial to follow at a later date at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery 32053 W. McCabe Rd. Gustine, CA 95322.
