Alfred Sasules
December 31st, 1926 - May 24th, 2014
Alfred Sasules, 87, lifelong resident of Monterey county, passed away on May 24, 2014 in Salinas, CA. He was born on December 31, 1926 in Soledad, CA. As a boy, he entered into the Boy Scouts and went on to become a Boy Scout Leader. Alfred proudly served in the U.S. Navy for over 21 years. He was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. After WWII, he was part of "Operation Crossroads". Alfred was awarded multiple service medals; the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Alfred was a member of U.S. Navy Rifle-Pistol Team for over 10 years, earning his distinguished Rifle-Pistol Medals. He was twice awarded the "President's 100" at Camp Perry in Ohio. In 1964, he won the "All Navy Rifle Championship". After he retired from the Navy; his passion for shooting continued and he went on to instruct local youth and future peace offices in the art of marksmenship in Salinas and Monterey. Alfred is survived by, his loving wife, Frances W. Sasules children, Diana (Ron) Jenkins Lynn Barlow James Sasules grandchildren, Veronica Jenkins Keesha Metsiou Mike (Holly) Jenkins great-grandchildren, Jacob, Dustin and Wyatt Jenkins Matthew Valdivia and Marissa Metsiou great-great-grandchildren, Jerimiah and Natalie Metsiou also survive. Burial at Sea with full Military Honors will be held at a later date in San Diego, CA.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
