Violet "Pete" Blackwell, 84, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 in Salinas. Violet was born September 20, 1929 in Tulsa, OK and lived in Salinas for the past 72 years. She reitred after 22 years with the Santa Rita School District as a teachers assistant and bus driver. Violet was a devout Christian and a member of Valley Baptist Church in Salinas. Violet is survived by her husband: Tom Blackwell Sr.. her sons: Tom (Esther) Blackwell Jr. and Wendell (Jonna) Blackwell, her daughter: Twila (Tom) Beaubien. She is also survived her grandchildren: Kristen Grossen, Amy McClure, Taryn Manzitto, Tamara Carter, Derek Blackwell, and Matthew Blackwell, and her great grandchildren: Josie Brown, Paige McClure, Gracie Grossen, Kaylee Grossen, Gabriel Beaubien, Reese Carter, and one on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. Memorial services will be held, Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Valley Baptist Church, 320 Church Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Donations in her memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the donor's favorite charity.
